This is the latest update of the pages relating to my Batley St Mary’s one-place study, the details of which I announced here.

During the last few week I have added seven pages. These include six weekly newspaper summaries. There is also one biography, that of Patrick Naifsey, which encompasses apparitions, miracles, evictions, Kipling and an Irish Great War poet, as well as the County Mayo/Batley connection.

I have also identified more men who served and survived, and have accordingly updated that page.

  1. I like the idea of an index /update blog, I may copy that from time to time, if that is OK. Great story and good research re Patrick Naifsey 🙂

    • Thanks Helen.
I created it because my One-Place Study pieces are site pages rather than blog posts so anyone looking at my wordpress site does not automatically see them. It’s a handy way of rounding them up in a blog post. But it is really useful either way as you can easily see at a glance what’s there and what is new. Patrick Naifsey is one of a few parishioners on the War Memorial who was born in County Mayo, but many more had parents who were Irish-born. There were so many different components to his biography too with the Kipling element, and the events in the part of Ireland where he was born and grew up in.
