This week’s round-up of pieces from the Batley News relating to the parish of St Mary’s is brief. As usual I have put in bold the names of those connected to the parish who served with the military. And, as ever, the spelling and punctuation matches that of the newspaper.


There was one parishioner, Horace Lee, in the Roll of Honour, taken from the War Office official casualty lists:

In police news, a parishioner appeared before the magistrates:

A number of parents were summoned for not sending their children regularly to school, or for not giving proper attention to children excluded on account of verminous hair. —- ….Annie Gannon, 7, Spa Street, 20s.;….
