Here’s the 33rd photo from the bundle of Batley St. Mary of the Angels school photos I’ve been given. I have been sharing them over the past few months in the hope people might enjoy seeing them, recognise themselves, school friends or family members, and be able to put names to faces.

With thanks to John Roe for supplying some background about this photo, from 1963. The cup was awarded to the winning team in the swimming gala for local schools, with the honour going to St Mary’s girls’ team in 1963. The boys’ team also won their contest that year. And in another demonstration of the school’s sporting talents the football team, in which John played, was unbeaten 1962/3 and won the local cup competition.
