1916, 17 June – Batley News

Here is this week’s short round-up of pieces from the Batley News relating to the parish of St Mary’s. As usual I have put in bold the names of those connected to the parish who served with the military. And, as ever, the spelling and punctuation matches that of the newspaper.

The death notices had the following:

COLLERAN. —On the 12th inst., aged 57 years, Luke Colleran, New Street.

The second, and final item, this week was more about the death of James Kelly:

Dewsbury Guardians opened their proceedings on Friday with a kindly reference to the death of Jas. Kelly, and Old Boy of the Institution, who lost his life in the last naval battle.
