11.1.18 Miss Baines returned to school on Monday Jan 7th

11.1.18 School reopened on Monday Jan. 7th. Miss Murphy absent on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday on account of sickness. Miss Kissane also on Monday.

18.1.8 Miss Colman who has been absent since August 16th resigned her post as certified assistant on Dec. 31st.

25.1.18 The attendance during the last three weeks has been very poor owing to the children being kept at home by parents to try to procure food.

29.1.18 Checked the Registers J. J. Lea

8.2.18 Received notice of Religious Examination.

15.2.18 On Tuesday afternoon the school was closed it being Shrove-tide.

22.2.18 The Religious examination of this school took place on Thursday Feb. 21st, the registers were therefore were [sic] not marked.

4.3.18 Head Mistress absent.

8.3.18 Miss Baines who has been absent two days returned to school on Wednesday 6th March.

15.3.18 Commenced Third Term Test examination last Tuesday.

22.3.18 Time Table slightly changed this week.

29.3.18 School closed today for Easter Holidays.

8.4.18 School reopened this morning. Head Mistress absent through illness. Miss Murphy and Miss Kisanne also absent.
Admitted fifty five children from Infant’s D.[epartment] School.

10.4,18 Miss Kisanne resumes her duties today.

15.4.18 Miss Murphy resumes her duties today.

23.4.18 Miss Toomey commences her duties in this school today.

10.5.18 Miss Kisanne absent since May 6th.
Scholars attentive. School routine as usual.

May 15 School closed for Whitsuntide Vacation.

May 27th School reopened today. Miss Kisanne still absent.

May 30 Batley was honoured today by a visit of their Majesties King George V and his royal consort Queen Mary. The children of different schools were assembled in the Market-Square to welcome them. It being the Feast of Corpus Christi the scholars of school had a whole days holiday.

June 14 Attendance fairly good.
Three scholars leave today for work.

June 21st School routine as usual.

5.7.18 Miss Baines returned to school on Monday July 1st.
Miss Kissane (Cert. Assistant) resigned her post in this school on May 6th.

11.7.18 Miss Reilly (Trained Certified teacher) commenced teaching in this school on Monday July 8th.
The school was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, it will also be closed tomorrow Friday,
Miss Twomey who has been absent on account of sickness returned this afternoon.

18.7.18 School closes this morning for the Midsummer holidays.

16.8.18 School reopened on Monday morning 12.8.
Thursday being a Holy Day of Obligation the school was closed.

23.8.18 Attendance improved slightly this week.

6.9.18 Attendance is very poor.

12.9.18 School closes today at noon for Batley Feast.

27.9.18 School reopened on Monday morning after Batley Feast holidays.
Miss Bickley absent on account of sickness on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday returned to her duties on Thursday morning.

4.10.18 The Swimming Competition took place at the Baths yesterday afternoon. Three girls from this school were successful in winning the Hirst Cup for the fourth time. Each received a silver brooch with pendent attached as a reward.
The children were allowed to leave the school at 3.45 instead of 4 o’clock in order that they could be present at the Gala.

11.10.18 We have received 46 books from the Public Library for the use of the children.

18.10.18 Eleven Certificates for Swimming were awarded to the girls who distinguished themselves.

25.10.18 Two ladies visited the school on Tuesday last, and heard the children sing and recite.

30.10.18 Children assembled but dismissed owing to rapid spread of Epidemic. School closed until Nov. 11th.

11.11.18 Children assembled at 9 a.m.
Dismissed and school closed for one week.

19.11.18 School reopened yesterday all day. Very poor attendance.
Closed again this morning for another week.

25.11.18 School reopened this morning. Attendance very poor.

29.11.18 School closed this afternoon and will remain closed for one week.

13.12.18 School reopened on Monday morning Dec. 9th with a very poor attendance.
