If you think all planning applications are dull, Dull, DULL, think again.
Ok, I’ll admit some of them might be. But others can be absolute gems providing, in addition to the specific building history and description, wider local and social history information.
The heritage impact assessment attached to a planning application for St Mary’s Catholic Primary School and Convent is a great example. I will be writing a detailed post about some of the school’s history soon.
